Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Al-Khateeb, the Human Rights Unit at the University of Baghdad, College of Pharmacy, organized an extracurricular activity in the courtyard of the college on the occasion of Human Rights Day, with the participation of more than 30 second-year students and the supervision of a group of faculty members.
The activity aimed to raise awareness of the principles of human rights, promote respect for human dignity, reinforce the values of equality, tolerance, and peace within the university community, support the role of educational institutions in spreading human rights culture, and encourage students to engage actively in humanitarian and social initiatives.
The activity featured a display of educational posters, brochures, and various interactive activities focused on promoting awareness of human rights, highlighting the student’s role in fostering justice within the campus environment. Students also showcased works reflecting a deep understanding of the importance of protecting fundamental rights and freedoms in society.
At the conclusion of the event, several recommendations were emphasized, including the importance of continuing to organize annual activities dedicated to Human Rights Day, enhancing students’ rights awareness through workshops and lectures, encouraging volunteerism and community service, and fostering a safe university environment free from all forms of violence or discrimination.
